Cooke Dateline: Greer Ellie Mae Stokes Cooke, 96, of 4627 Jordan Road, widow of Thomas Garrett Cooke whom she was married to for 73 years, died March 9, 2010 at Piedmont Living Center. A native of Greenville County, daughter of the late Alexander and Ella Forrester Stokes, she was a retired employee of Stone Mfg Company and a member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church. Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Charles Boswell of Greer, Amilee and Bob Kemp of Lyman and Sheila and Eddie Campbell of Landrum; three sons and daughters-in-law, Stokes and Geraldine Cooke of Greer, Ronald and Carolyn Cooke of Travelers Rest and Danny and Pat Cooke of Greer; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Cooke was predeceased by six brothers, Plymn, Alvin, Harvey, Harley, Lloyd and Jennings Stokes and four sisters, Lillie Burnette, Pearline Bruce, Mildred Alverson and Lucille Sudduth. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Mark Smith and Rev. Delano McMinn. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary escort will be the Willing Workers Sunday School Class and staff at Bayberry Assisted Living. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wood Mortuary. Special thanks to the staff at Bayberry Assisted Living for their exceptional care.
