Name: Ruby F. Mathis Dateline: Wellford Ruby Forrester Mathis, 83, of 131 Earl Street, died February 6, 2010 at her Home. She was the widow of Charles G. Mathis. A native of Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Alice Brown Forrester, a member of Jackson Baptist Church and a homemaker. Surviving is a son and daughter-in-law,Randy and Tanya Mathis of Inman; 4 daughters and sons-in-law, Karen Mathis, Lynn and Darryl Emory all of Wellford, Brenda and Jay Hammett of Spartanburg, and Linda and Rick Gorman of Greer; one brother, Ray Forrester of Greer; one sister, Gertrude Atkins of Anderson; and six grandchildren, Curtis Emory, Jessica Emory, Chris Gorman, Todd Gorman, Ericka Hammett and Jared Hammett. She was predeceased by 2 sisters, Elsie Norris and Agnes Staggs. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Jackson Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. James McMakin and Dr. Bill Poore. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and Michael Staggs and Jerry Hembree. The family is at the home and will be receiving friends Monday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at The Wood Mortuary.
